All Saints’ Choir
All Saints is blessed to have a robed adult choir to sing morning Mass and Choral Evensong at Sunday services. Mass takes place each Sunday at 10.30 am with a short rehearsal at 9.45 am. Choral Evensong every first and third Sunday at 5.30 pm with a rehearsal at 4.45 pm. On the first Sunday of the month Choral Evensong includes Benediction. The Choir takes a break during August and from time to time throughout the year.
We have a wide repertoire of mass settings, motets, responses, canticles and anthems. Works range from the Renaissance up to present day composers. The choir also sings on important Feast days throughout the liturgical year including the ‘Advent Procession’ and Nine Lessons and Carols at Christmas. Holy Week, Corpus Christi and All Souls are important marked days.
The Choir’s role is to lead worship with appropriate music performed to a high standard by a dedicated team of volunteer singers. Occasionally, we enjoy joining with other church choirs to perform concerts. On days such as Easter Day or on other special occasions, a small string group has accompanied us to sing music such as a mass by F J Haydn or a cantata by D. Buxtehude.
Come and Sing with us!
All Saints’ Choir aims to maintain a high musical standard, so we do ask members to be willing to do some preparation at home by listening to any new music. We have weekly (Friday) choir rehearsals to prepare for the following Sunday’s services. New members are always welcome, especially Altos and Tenors. If you are interested, you are welcome to join on a trial basis by coming to a couple of Friday rehearsals to see if this is for you.
Our Director of Music will be delighted to hear from you.
